Horchata is usually made from soaked rice, cinnamon, and sugar. Oats stand in for the rice here and blend in much faster. The result is a milky, cinnamon-forward drink that tastes lighter than most shakes.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (about 30 g)
- 1 ¼ cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 5 ice cubes
Method
- Add the almond milk and oats to the blender and let them stand for five minutes.
- Add the protein powder, cinnamon, maple syrup, vanilla, and ice.
- Blend for a full minute, until the oats are fully broken down.
- Pour through a fine strainer for a smoother, traditional texture.
