Matcha is ground green tea leaf, so it brings caffeine along with a grassy, slightly sweet flavor. A teaspoon has roughly half the caffeine of a cup of coffee. Whisk the powder into a little warm water first to avoid clumps.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (about 30 g)
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1 ¼ cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 medium frozen banana
- 1 tbsp honey
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ice cubes
Method
- Whisk the matcha with two tablespoons of 175°F (80°C) water until it forms a smooth paste.
- Add the paste, almond milk, protein powder, banana, honey, and vanilla to the blender.
- Add the ice and blend until smooth, about 40 seconds.
- Serve right away.
