Cold coffee and peanut butter are a better match than they sound. The roasted flavors line up, and the banana smooths everything out. Chill the coffee before blending, because hot coffee will clump the protein powder.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder (about 30 g)
- ¾ cup strong brewed coffee, chilled
- ½ cup 2% milk
- 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 1 medium frozen banana
- 3 ice cubes
Method
- Brew the coffee ahead of time and let it cool fully, or use cold brew.
- Add the coffee, milk, peanut butter, and protein powder to the blender.
- Add the frozen banana and ice.
- Blend until smooth, about 45 seconds.

Tips
- Freeze leftover coffee in an ice cube tray and use the cubes in place of ice. The shake will not water down.
- Chocolate protein works well here. Vanilla also works.
Swaps and variations
- Use an espresso shot in place of the brewed coffee for a stronger flavor.
- Use almond butter instead of peanut butter.
