Granola does not fully dissolve, which is the point. It leaves tiny crunchy bits that give the shake a breakfast-cereal feel. Choose a low-sugar granola, since most brands add a lot of sweetener.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (about 30 g)
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
- ¼ cup low-sugar granola
- ½ medium banana
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 ice cubes
Method
- Add the milk, peanut butter, and protein powder to the blender.
- Add the banana, cinnamon, and ice.
- Blend until smooth, about 40 seconds.
- Add the granola and pulse three or four times so it breaks up but keeps some texture.

Tips
- Add the granola last. Blending it for the full time turns the shake into porridge.
- Granola brands vary a great deal in sugar, so the nutrition numbers can shift.
Swaps and variations
- Use almond butter in place of peanut butter.
- Use chocolate protein for a version that tastes like a peanut butter cereal bar.
