Casein protein is the best choice for hot drinks. It tolerates heat and turns creamy instead of clumping. With strong chai and warm milk, it makes a rich latte that works at night too.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop vanilla casein protein powder (about 33 g)
- 1 cup 2% milk
- ½ cup strong brewed chai, chilled
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.125 tsp ground cardamom
Method
- Brew two chai tea bags in half a cup of hot water for five minutes and remove the bags.
- Whisk the casein powder with a quarter cup of cold milk until smooth.
- Warm the remaining milk and stir it into the paste, then add the chai, maple syrup, and spices.
- Froth for 20 seconds with a whisk or frother.
